Product Description
Polyethylene fuel tank, fits 1967-1969 Jeepster commandos with a rear fill neck. Fuel capacity is 14 gallons. Number 18 in the diagram.
This tank does not have a fitting on it to return the fuel back from the fuel pump to the tank. You will need to use your stock sending unit that has the fitting for the return fuel built into it or add this sending unit part number 944890 (correct new sending unit for this tank with a return built in fitting).
Nearly 1/4 inch thick polyethylene for superior strength. Will not crack even at 150º F above or 160º F below zero. No welds or seams to fail or leak. Five year warranty. Direct bolt in for the 1967-1969 jeepster commandos with the filler neck exiting the rear. Tank straps included. Use your filler hoses that came stock on your Jeepster. I also stock the new filler hoses for this tank if needed.
This tank is a look alike for the steel tank that came in your Jeepster.
Side or rear fill ? Look at your tank, the steel neck coming out of your tank was located in two different spots on 1967-1971 Jeepster Commandos. If the steel neck is exiting the side of the tank pointing to the driver side, you have a side fill tank, if the steel neck is pointing to the rear of the vehicle, you have a rear fill tank. The rear fill tanks came with a two piece filler hose and the side fill tanks use a single hose.
Bolts to the stock tank frame brackets that came on your 1967-1969 Jeepster Commando
Dimensions 22" x 20" x 9" and 14 gallons

Fits and works beautifully
While a plastic tank may be a bit of concern, the tank tucks up nice and out of the way (like the stock metal tank.) The connections, fill, vent, etc all are in a good place and help keep the tank properly vented so that it can be quickly filled. I'd definitely recommend this for someone who needs a rear-fill (or wants to change to one.)
